Chandigarh, August 28:
The State of Punjab is all set to celebrate the half centenary of the creation of Punjabi Suba. All the concerned departments have framed the blueprint of the different functions they have to organize during this month long celebrations. A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab at Punjab Bhawan late last night to monitor the preparedness of the departments in this regard.
In a press communiqué released here today Dr. Cheema said that on November 1, it would be exact 50 years since the creation of Punjabi Suba. He said that the Punjab Government has decided to celebrate this mega event on massive scale. He said that celebrations would be continued for a month during which functions would be organized by different departments at their own level. He said especially School Education, Higher Education & Languages, Rural Development and Panchayats, Women and Child Development, Information and Public Relations, Sports and NRI departments would spearhead the half centenary celebrations. In today’s meeting all these departments gave a detailed presentation of the activities they would execute to commemorate the half centenary of Punjabi Suba. The information and Public Relations Department would frame a joint calendar of all the activities to be executed during this month long campaign.
Dr. Cheema said that those selfless warriors who have sacrificed their lives for the creation of Punjabi Suba would be given rich tributes during these half centenary celebrations. He said that the Punjab Government is doing every effort to establish connect with every citizen of the state in order to educate, inform and sensitize them about the Punjab’s rich Historical and Cultural legacy and the sacrifices made for the creation of Punjab Suba. The main focus of these functions would be showcasing the importance of mother tongue, Punjabi Folklore, History of Punjabi Suba and the sacrifices made for its creation. Exhibitions, Fairs, Documentary Films, and Publication of books relating to the history of Punjabi suba would be the main attraction.
Prominent amongst those who were present in the meeting included Mrs. Anjali Bhawra, Principal Secretary, Cultural Affairs, Mr. Sanjay Singh, Principal Secretary, NRI Affairs, Mr. V.P Singh, Secretary, Sports, Mr. Rahul Tiwari, Secretary, Information & Public Relations, Mrs. Rupanjali Karthik, Additional Secretary, Grievance Redressal, Mrs. Senu Duggal, Director, Information & Public Relations Department, Rahul Gupta, Director, Sports, Mr. T.K Goyal, D.P.I (Colleges), Mrs. Pankaj Sharma, D.P.I (Elementary Education) and other senior officers of the different departments.

29 ਅਗਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਚੰਦ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਵਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੌਮੀ ਖੇਡ ਦਿਵਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੇਜਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਚੰਦ ਨੇ ਹਾਕੀ ਖੇਡ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਬੁਲੰਦੀਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ। ਇਕ ਮਹਾਨ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਮ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ ਿਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਦੇਸ਼ ਖੇਡ ਿਦਵਸ ਮਨਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਿੲਸ ਸ਼ੁੱਭ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਉਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਿਖਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਮੀ ਖੇਡ ਐਵਾਰਡਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰਾਜੀਵ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਖੇਲ ਰਤਨ, ਅਰਜੁਨਾ, ਦਰੋਣਾਚਾਰੀਆ ਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਚੰਦ ਐਵਾਰਡ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਿਖਡਾਰੀਆਂ, ਿਖਡਾਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੋਚਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਲਾਨਾ ਅਬੁਲ ਕਲਾਮ (ਮਾਕਾ) ਟਰਾਫੀ ਿਜੱਤਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਦਿਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਹਿਰਾਈਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਸਾਡੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਤੇ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਣ ਲੈਣ ਕੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਖਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਇਹੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਿਖਡਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੀ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਚੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਂਜਲੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।

CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 23:
The Education Department today declared the result pertaining to the recruitment of 4500 ETT teachers. This was disclosed by the Education Minister, Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema.
Congratulating the selected candidates, Dr. Cheema said that the Education department had recruited more than 65000 teachers during past 9 years whereas the procedure to recruit 16000 teachers of different cadres was under process. The result declared today regarding recruitment of 4500 ETT cadre teachers is part of this process. Divulging more, he said that the advertisement regarding 2005 more posts of ETT teachers has been issued and with the completion of the said recruitment, no primary school in the state would be sans even a single post of teacher by 31st March, 2017.
The Education minister further said that selected candidates have been instructed to give their option from August 24 to 26 for online selection of districts. The districts would be allotted as per merit to the candidates. Afterwards, the candidates would be allotted stations in accordance with their merit. Dr. Cheema also said that the recruitment process for 6000 master cadre teachers is also underway. He also said that apart from the recruitments, the Education department has also effected the promotions of every cadre on large scale. Disclosing more, he informed that the promotion process from ETT to head teacher is also going on.
Giving further details, the Education minister said that the list of selected candidates has been uploaded on website www.educationrecruitmentboard.

ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਆਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਧਰ ਦੀ ਭਰਤੀ ਤਹਿਤ ਅੱਜ 4500 ਈ.ਟੀ.ਟੀ.ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਖੁਲਾਸਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਡਾ.ਦਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੀਮਾ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਇਥੇ ਜਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਡਾ.ਚੀਮਾ ਨੇ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਿਛਲੇ 9 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ 65000 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਭਰਤੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਾਡਰਾਂ ਦੇ 16000 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਅਧੀਨ ਸੀ। ਅੱਜ ਇਨ•ਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਅਧੀਨ ਭਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਈ.ਟੀ.ਟੀ. ਕਾਡਰ ਦੀਆਂ 4500 ਪੋਸਟਾਂ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਭਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਦੇ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਈ.ਟੀ.ਟੀ. ਦੀਆਂ 2005 ਹੋਰ ਅਸਾਮੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਇਸ਼ਤਿਹਾਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਭਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਮਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ 31 ਮਾਰਚ 2017 ਤੱਕ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਦੀ ਅਸਾਮੀ ਖਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ 24 ਤੋਂ 26 ਅਗਸਤ ਤੱਕ ਆਨ ਲਾਈਨ ਜ਼ਿਲਿ•ਆਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਸ਼ਨ ਮੰਗੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਰਿਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜ਼ਿਲਿ•ਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਲਾਟਮੈਂਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਨ•ਾਂ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਰਿਟ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਖਾਲੀ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਰਿਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਲਾਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਡਾ.ਚੀਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ 6000 ਮਾਸਟਰ ਕਾਡਰ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵੀ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਭਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹਰ ਕਾਡਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਪਦਉਨਤੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਈ.ਟੀ.ਟੀ. ਤੋਂ ਹੈਡ ਟੀਚਰ ਦੀ ਪਦਉਨਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵੀ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਰਦਿਆਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ 1998 ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਾਸਟਰਪਤੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਦਮ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਐਵਾਰਡ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ 1999 ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆਨਪੀਠ ਅਵਾਰਡ, ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ ਐਵਾਰਡ, ਅੱਧ ਚਾਨਣੀ ਰਾਤ (1975), ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਵਲਿਸਟ ਐਵਾਰਡ (1975), ਸੋਵੀਅਤ ਨਹਿਰੂ ਐਵਾਰਡ (1986), ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਡਮੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮਾਣ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਮਿਲੇ। ਨਾਵਲਕਾਰ ਸ. ਗੁਰਦਿਆਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਂ 2015 ਵਿਚ 'ਲਿਮਕਾ ਬੁੱਕ ਆਫ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ' 'ਚ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਨ•ਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਵਲ 'ਮੜ•ੀ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ' 'ਤੇ ਬਣੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਨੇ ਬੈਸਟ ਰਿਜ਼ਨਲ ਫਿਲਮ ਐਵਾਰਡ 1989 ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ•ਾਂ ਦੀ ''ਅੰਨੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ'' ਨਾਵਲ ਤੇ ਫਿਲਮ ਬਣੀ ਜੋ ਆਸਕਰ ਲਈ ਚੁਣੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਸੀ।
I am grateful to all the friends for sending warm best wishes on the occasion of Independence Day. I reciprocate the same with all humility . For me the day was memorable as I got an opportunity to unfurl the National flag at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. This land of martyres reminds me of the history when Baba Banda Singh Bahdur conquered Sirhind and established 'Khalsa Raj', putting an end to centuries old Mugal rule. It was this time when people of this small region of India had a feeling of freedom for a short period. But today we all are fortunate that due to the countless sacrifices of our great freedom fighters, we are enjoying the fruits of freedom.

Serious deliberations on text of report during CABE subcommittee meeting

Chandigarh/New Delhi, August 13:
The Punjab Education Minister, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema today chaired the 6th meeting of the sub-committee of Central Advisory Board on Education (CABE) held at NEUPA, New Delhi. During the meeting various dignitaries such as Bihar Education Minister Ashok Chaudhari, Vice Chancellor of NEUPA Prof. J.B.J. Tilak, Director RMSA Nigar Fatima Hussain, Principal Secretary (Education) Bihar D.S. Gangwar, CEO Premji Foundation Dilip. K. Ranjekar, Prof. Ranjana Garg from NCERT, Academician Sachchidanand Sinha, Director SCERT Uttar Pradesh Sarvendra Vikram Singh, Principal Resident Commissioner Karnataka Atul Tewari, M.K. Sridhar from Bangalore University, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) –cum-Member Secretary of the committee Manish Garg and other academic scholars took part.
In a statement after the meeting, Committee Chairman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema disclosed that the text of the committee’s report is being given final touches which explains the brainstorming discussions held today. Divulging more, he said that the committee is of the view that in order to lift the standard of the government schools it is highly necessary that the report is made part of the National Education Policy so as to execute its recommendations in toto. He further said that as per the views expressed by the committee members, the committee would submit its report to the Union HRD ministry by 15th September. He also said that serious deliberations are being held across the country to formulate and give to the National Education Policy. It is worth mentioning that the committee was formed in November last year and had to submit its report within one year.
The text debated during today’s meeting was formulated based on the presentations made by the various states during previous 5 meetings of the committee. Every member actively took part in the deliberations set to be a step forward in giving shape to the educational structure in the country. Some valuable suggestions were also received regarding amendments in certain sections of the report which were accepted.

EDUCATION MINISTER HANDS OVER APPOINTMENT & STATION ALLOTTMENT LETTERS TO 100 ART & CRAFT TEACHERS
34 EMPLOYEES GIVEN APPOINTMENT ON COMPASSIONATE GROUNDS
PENDING CASES OF COMPASSIONATE GROUNDS TO BE DEALT WITH IN A CAMP AT HEAD OFFICE ON 10TH AUGUST: DR. CHEEMA
S.A.S. NAGAR (MOHALI), JULY 22:
The Education Minister, Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema today handed over appointment and station allotment letters to the 100 art and craft teachers as part of the recruitment drive of the education department. The occasion also saw 34 next of kin of deceased employees being given appointment and station allotment letters on compassionate grounds. All the teachers and employees were shown the list of vacant stations after which the stations according to choice were allotted.
In a brief but impressive function held at the auditorium of The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Dr. Cheema said that the pending cases of jobs on compassionate grounds would be dealt with in a special camp at the head office at Mohali on 10th August where all the District Education Officers (D.E.O.s) along with officers of head office would be summoned in order to resolve the cases in a single day itself. He also said that it is the serious endeavor of the department to give priority to the compassionate ground cases so as to give appointment letter to the next of kin of the deceased employee.
The Education Minister further said that the department is engaged in recruiting teachers of all subjects and he sincerely hopes that with these recruitments there would not be any vacancy left pending in any of the government schools. Divulging more, he said that art and craft besides Physical Education teachers are the closest to the student and play a significant role in keeping the banner of discipline aloft in the schools. He expressed strong hope that the newly recruited teachers given appointment today would render a yeoman’s service in ensuring exceptional academic atmosphere in the schools apart from indulging in giving vent to the creative talent of the students through constructive activities.
Earlier, D.P.I. (Secondary Education), Balbir Singh Dhol disclosed that after 100 art & craft teachers, D.P.E.s and Home Science teachers would be given appointment letters. Giving more details, he said that of the 34 employees given appointment letters on compassionate grounds include 17 L.S.A., 11 Clerks, 1 Library Restorer and 5 Class-iv employees.
On the occasion, Director (Administration) Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Dhaliwal, Director SCERT Sukhdev Singh Kahlon and Assistant Director Harwinder Kaur were also present.

The Australian High Commissioner Ms Harinder Sidhu called upon the Punjab Education Minister, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema here today. The discussions which took place at Punjab Bhawan, were aimed at increasing co-operation in the educational sector between Australia and Punjab.
The Education Minister briefed the Australian dignitary about the efforts being made by the Education department to help the students enrich their skills through vocational education. The Minister said
that along with the traditional education, the department is providing vocational education as per the latest trends from 9th standard onwards in the 9 trades in 400 schools with the assistance of National
Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

He is MLA from Ropar vidhan sabha constituency in Ropar district. He is associated with SAD. He was elected as MLA from this vidhan sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 8882 votes. Ramesh Dutt of Congress was the trailing candidate. Earlier, he contested the lok sabha elections held in 2009 from Anandpur Sahib constituency, but lost from S. Ravneet Singh Bittu of congress.
He was Advisor to Chief Minister of Punjab during the period 2007 to 2012, during the previous tenure of SAD-BJP government.
