DEPARTMENTS READY WITH BLUEPRINT TO CELEBRATE THE HALF CENTENARY OF PUNJABI SUBA

The State of Punjab is all set to celebrate the half centenary of the creation of Punjabi Suba. All the concerned departments have framed the blueprint of the different functions they have to organize during this month long celebrations. A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab at Punjab Bhawan late last night to monitor the preparedness of the departments in this regard.
In a press communiqué released here today Dr. Cheema said that on November 1, it would be exact 50 years since the creation of Punjabi Suba. He said that the Punjab Government has decided to celebrate this mega event on massive scale. He said that celebrations would be continued for a month during which functions would be organized by different departments at their own level. He said especially School Education, Higher Education & Languages, Rural Development and Panchayats, Women and Child Development, Information and Public Relations, Sports and NRI departments would spearhead the half centenary celebrations. In today’s meeting all these departments gave a detailed presentation of the activities they would execute to commemorate the half centenary of Punjabi Suba. The information and Public Relations Department would frame a joint calendar of all the activities to be executed during this month long campaign.
Dr. Cheema said that those selfless warriors who have sacrificed their lives for the creation of Punjabi Suba would be given rich tributes during these half centenary celebrations. He said that the Punjab Government is doing every effort to establish connect with every citizen of the state in order to educate, inform and sensitize them about the Punjab’s rich Historical and Cultural legacy and the sacrifices made for the creation of Punjab Suba. The main focus of these functions would be showcasing the importance of mother tongue, Punjabi Folklore, History of Punjabi Suba and the sacrifices made for its creation. Exhibitions, Fairs, Documentary Films, and Publication of books relating to the history of Punjabi suba would be the main attraction.
Prominent amongst those who were present in the meeting included Mrs. Anjali Bhawra, Principal Secretary, Cultural Affairs, Mr. Sanjay Singh, Principal Secretary, NRI Affairs, Mr. V.P Singh, Secretary, Sports, Mr. Rahul Tiwari, Secretary, Information & Public Relations, Mrs. Rupanjali Karthik, Additional Secretary, Grievance Redressal, Mrs. Senu Duggal, Director, Information & Public Relations Department, Rahul Gupta, Director, Sports, Mr. T.K Goyal, D.P.I (Colleges), Mrs. Pankaj Sharma, D.P.I (Elementary Education) and other senior officers of the different departments.
