EDUCATION MINISTER HANDS OVER APPOINTMENT & STATION ALLOTTMENT LETTERS TO 100 ART & CRAFT TEACHERS
34 EMPLOYEES GIVEN APPOINTMENT ON COMPASSIONATE GROUNDS
PENDING CASES OF COMPASSIONATE GROUNDS TO BE DEALT WITH IN A CAMP AT HEAD OFFICE ON 10TH AUGUST: DR. CHEEMA
S.A.S. NAGAR (MOHALI), JULY 22:
The Education Minister, Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema today handed over appointment and station allotment letters to the 100 art and craft teachers as part of the recruitment drive of the education department. The occasion also saw 34 next of kin of deceased employees being given appointment and station allotment letters on compassionate grounds. All the teachers and employees were shown the list of vacant stations after which the stations according to choice were allotted.
In a brief but impressive function held at the auditorium of The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Dr. Cheema said that the pending cases of jobs on compassionate grounds would be dealt with in a special camp at the head office at Mohali on 10th August where all the District Education Officers (D.E.O.s) along with officers of head office would be summoned in order to resolve the cases in a single day itself. He also said that it is the serious endeavor of the department to give priority to the compassionate ground cases so as to give appointment letter to the next of kin of the deceased employee.
The Education Minister further said that the department is engaged in recruiting teachers of all subjects and he sincerely hopes that with these recruitments there would not be any vacancy left pending in any of the government schools. Divulging more, he said that art and craft besides Physical Education teachers are the closest to the student and play a significant role in keeping the banner of discipline aloft in the schools. He expressed strong hope that the newly recruited teachers given appointment today would render a yeoman’s service in ensuring exceptional academic atmosphere in the schools apart from indulging in giving vent to the creative talent of the students through constructive activities.
Earlier, D.P.I. (Secondary Education), Balbir Singh Dhol disclosed that after 100 art & craft teachers, D.P.E.s and Home Science teachers would be given appointment letters. Giving more details, he said that of the 34 employees given appointment letters on compassionate grounds include 17 L.S.A., 11 Clerks, 1 Library Restorer and 5 Class-iv employees.
On the occasion, Director (Administration) Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Dhaliwal, Director SCERT Sukhdev Singh Kahlon and Assistant Director Harwinder Kaur were also present.

The Australian High Commissioner Ms Harinder Sidhu called upon the Punjab Education Minister, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema here today. The discussions which took place at Punjab Bhawan, were aimed at increasing co-operation in the educational sector between Australia and Punjab.
The Education Minister briefed the Australian dignitary about the efforts being made by the Education department to help the students enrich their skills through vocational education. The Minister said
that along with the traditional education, the department is providing vocational education as per the latest trends from 9th standard onwards in the 9 trades in 400 schools with the assistance of National
Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

Coming to the measures centered on girl education, the Education Minister also briefed the visiting dignitary regarding the free education up to 10+2 and other facilities being provided by the state government besides pointing out the fact that the girls are bagging more seats in the medical stream.

On the co-operation offered by the Australian High Commissioner to Punjab in the skill education, teacher training and up gradation of English language standard in the state, Dr. Cheema said that this

He is MLA from Ropar vidhan sabha constituency in Ropar district. He is associated with SAD. He was elected as MLA from this vidhan sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 8882 votes. Ramesh Dutt of Congress was the trailing candidate. Earlier, he contested the lok sabha elections held in 2009 from Anandpur Sahib constituency, but lost from S. Ravneet Singh Bittu of congress.
He was Advisor to Chief Minister of Punjab during the period 2007 to 2012, during the previous tenure of SAD-BJP government.
